The well-known puffer jacket, also known as "puffy" or "puffer", is said to have been invented by Eddie Bauer in 1936, who almost died of hypothermia after a day of fishing. This episode inspired the creation of a diamond-quilted jacket filled with real goose feathers. It is still very popular today! However, there is a narrative that attributes the birth of this garment to the Canadian Inuit, who wore a version of it with a leather exterior to protect themselves from low temperatures.
